ADSL, Asymmetric Digital Subscriber
Line, is a broadband connection technology which utilises
existing copper wired telephone networks. It uses a wide range
of frequencies over an existing
telephone line to deliver much higher speeds than the standard
56k modem (between 10 and 40
times faster). The telephone line can be used for normal phone
calls while surfing the Internet.
ADSL makes use of the existing telephone
line, where the signal is split into two channels, one for
voice communications and the other for the high speed data connection.

range not used in normal voice communications:
